Hi! I’m Alice, I run @sexystitches and before lockdown I was a stage manager and lighting technician in theatre, I had worked at theatres on the west end as well as a long list of off west end theatres.
When lockdown started I decided to try out some new hobbies, one of the starter kits I ordered was for embroidery and I was instantly hooked! I have always done what I can to spread body positivity and this felt like the perfect way to express that. I was incredibly shocked at the response my embroidery pieces got and the amount of commissions I was being requested to make, so decided to make it into a side business to help me get some sort of income as I didn’t qualify for the self employment grant.
Since then I have experimented with a variety of different styles but have definitely found that body positivity line art pieces are where I find the most love.
Not On The West End is such an incredible idea and I feel honoured to be a part of it.
