I'm Jenny and I started the Knit Knack Shack following the closure of theatres in March 2020. Pre-covid I was a self-employed wig maker of 32 years who had worked for many West End shows around the world, such as Harry Potter, Les Miserables, Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, as well as productions at the National Theatre, ENO, and Royal Opera House. When the theatres shut down, I picked up my love of knitting and it was whilst looking for wool I realised I couldn't find any nearby. I thought to myself, there must be plenty of people just like me who have lost their jobs who are returning to their old hobbies with their newly found spare time. So in May 2020, I came up with the idea of opening a wool shop. I needed something to keep me occupied and give me a sense of purpose. I secured a start up loan and found a premises in the Blue House Yard, Wood Green, near to where I live. The Knit Knack Shack was born on 1st August 2020 selling yarns, wools, hooks and needles from the premises and online. knitknackshack.co.uk www.facebook.com/KnitKnackShack @knitknackshack (Instagram)
