Using my love of pattern and resources as a costume designer ‘by Ghostlight’ sells an assortment of items, all made with unique fabrics designed by myself. Along with my business partner (a theatrical lighting designer) we will be offering opulent cushions, lampshades, up-cycled furniture with piece-specific printed fabrics and designer face coverings. I am also currently working on some very special Christmas patterns which we will be making available as ornaments and decorations….a little bit different to the usual things on offer.

When many theatres close their doors to the public a lone lit bulb is set on the stage whilst the theatre is dark. Although there are many practical reasons for this…I have always preferred the story that lead to it being named the ‘ghostlight’. Legend tells that the bulb is left lit for the ghosts who dwell in the theatre and who take over when the living have gone home. This felt the perfect name for my new business during a time where the theatres are in darkness.

I have been lucky enough to work on many shows over the years and was very proud last year to design the costumes for Birmingham Rep’s Christmas show ‘Peter Pan Reimagined’, I’ve also designed set and costumes for Royal Academy of Opera’s productions of ‘Cunning Little Vixen’ and ‘Magic Flute’ and was Assistant Costume Designer on Sky Atlantic’s ‘Fortitude - series 2’. My heart goes out to everyone, in the arts and otherwise, who find themselves in a precarious state this year….we need to look out for one another.
